Optimizing Wifi network on Mikrotik

Optimizing a WiFi network on Mikrotik - WiFi is a very important requirement. WiFi can also affect whether visitors will return to your WiFi. Here are some tips for optimizing a WiFi network on Mikrotik

  1. Only use channels 1, 6, and 11
  2. Don't use auto channels
  3. Pay attention to access point placement
  4. Supported A/G rates: 12Mbps, 18Mbps, 24Mbps, 36Mbps, 48Mbps, and 54Mbps
  5. Basic A/G rate: 12Mbps, 18Mbps
  6. 2GHz-G/N band
  7. Channel Width 20MHz
  8. For 5GHz frequencies, use 40MHz or 20MHz
  9. Limit Tx Power
  10. Use the same SSID
  11. Ensure sufficient IP pools for the number of visitors
    /24 = 256 IPs
    /23 = 512 IPs
    /22 = 1024 IPs
  12. Don't limit VPN
  13. Use Bandwidth Management
  14. For convenience, avoid visitors having to log in frequently
  15. If you don't need a hotspot, use WPA2-PSK with AES wireless security
  16. If using a hotspot, increase the session timeout
  17. Set idle timeout to none
  18. Keep alive time to none
  19. Set Minimum Signal Strength to -75
  20. Disable default authenticate
  21. Disable default forward
  22. Turn off WPS mode
